I'm
a
Gemini, and Geminis are fond of seeing both sides of every
issue. And today is
no exception!
Today could've gone one of two ways. It could've been used
as a challenge, OR
... an excuse.
This is true WHENEVER I face a trying situation. And today
was no exception!
I mean, let's face it. Most of us in the East were hindered
by the weather.
Locally, we couldn't get out at ALL...the roads were a mess,
8 inches of snow
fell followed by sleet and now overnight we're expecting
ANOTHER 3 to 8 inches
of snow. Our lane is impassable until the guy we hire to
plow it gets to us
(and he's got his work cut out for him today!) So we're
'stuck' at home.
In the past this would equal a huge opportunity....to BINGE!
After all, all the conditions were favorable. It's the
middle of Winter, so
we're all covered up...who's gonna see a few extra pounds,
right? With all
these big sweaters and coats....
PLUS it's....BORING being stuck at home! Nothing to do but
watch the tube or
read...or surf the web. Maybe do some internet shopping.
Cook goodies.
STUFF myself.
And in the past, that's exactly what I'd do. It would be the
PERFECT excuse.
...but not this time. NO WAY.
This time, this morning I decided I would use today as a
CHALLENGE instead of
an EXCUSE.
So I sat down and planned out my meals for the day. I got my
lean ready to go,
out of the freezer, etc. And I decided I would keep busy in
between meals.
Surfing the web, yes, but on this website (which keeps me
focused) as much as
possible...plus my favorites like Sparkrecipes (I store my
own recipes there),
my blog on blogspot, and other TSFL/MF related sites. I read
my emails and
responded to them. And I KEPT BUSY.
Sure enough, it worked...I would look up and voila! Two
hours had gone by!
Pretty soon I could have another MF meal!
And this afternoon I shoveled snow. In fact I got a little
peeved because DH
did the driveway AND the outside stairs just as I was
sitting down to lunch. I
wanted to get my exercise in! So I finally finished and
went downstairs
to 'complain' to my husband about it, at which point he laughed and
pointed to the
deck.
The deck was ENOUGH....LOL...250 to 300 square feet (I can't
remember if it's
25x10 or 25x12)...anyway it took me a good 40 minutes since
there was 18 inches
snow on it. So I was satisfied with that (and my back and
shoulders are
sore so I know I used them LOL).....
And I STAYED ON PROGRAM. YAY!!!!!!!
I always ask myself 'How will you FEEL?' when I get
ready to go to bed
and mentally review the day in my head.
It's never a good feeling knowing I lost control and
overate.
Whereas when I stay true to my food plan, I'm HAPPY
because I stayed IN
CONTROL. I'm PROUD of myself.
And I like being
proud of myself.
So tomorrow....bear this in mind if you're stuck indoors
AGAIN (and since we're
expecting another 8 inches of snow overnight...this could
very well be the
case...!)
It can either be a CHALLENGE or an EXCUSE.
CHOOSE THE CHALLENGE! You'll feel like a million bucks at
the end of the
day.
AND....you just might rack up a good weight loss this week!
Keep on keepin' on....
