My Secret Weapons!

I have a lot of resources and reading material I've covered elsewhere in my blog, but this page is specifically devoted to my latest 'tips, tricks and secret weapons' that I'm using CURRENTLY.

As such the contents will change....as I do!

I hope you find these ideas helpful to you on YOUR journey to health.

1).  I have just discovered the Veggetti Spiral Vegetable Slicer, Makes Veggie Pasta, and it's AWESOME.

This little gadget makes vegetable 'pasta' out of zucchini or squash.  And it's fun, quick and easy to use!  You can make a whole big plateful of zucchini 'spaghetti' with one of these in just a few minutes, for very little calories and a lot of filling up your tummy and feeling like you're spoiling yourself (what I call a definite win-win situation!)  It's easy to use, no electricity required, you just insert the veggie and turn it.  And it's dishwasher-safe.  Love it!

2). Walden Farms Calorie Free Chocolate Syrup -- 12 fl oz -- OMG I could mainline this stuff LOL. Seriously, if you have a sweet tooth and/or are into chocolate (and who isn't?) this is a GREAT substitute while you're following ANY diet program.  It's calorie free!

3).  Another gadget I could absolutely NOT live without is my little Ninja Master Prep Professional (QB1004).  Let's face it, a great method of crushing ice comes in very handy on a weight-loss program...because ice 'plumps up' those shakes and smoothies to make them seem like 'more'.  And more is good for you psychologically, because you feel like you're spoiling yourself!

This little guy is so great I use it just about every day.  It crushes ice, it makes perfect blended drinks, smoothies or soft serves, and it's great for mashed cauliflower (my all-time favorite veggie):

4).  One of my favorite 'take my mind off everything' activities is, believe it or not, a game!  And not just 'any' game, but the top-rated adventure game that has NEVER been equalled, in my opinion....for the PS3 system (which incidentally is a terrific time-waster LOL....seriously there's nothing like keeping BOTH hands busy and immersing yourself in one of these games...and there are thousands to choose from):

The all-time best game EVER in my opinion is Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning - Playstation 3

This is a role-playing game.  You can be a mighty warrior, you can be a Sorcerer, or you can be a 'Thief'.  You can play it as the 'good guy' or the 'bad guy'.  You can direct the story to go any way you want it to go.  The graphics are amazing....especially give the fact that this game is now several years old!  (that's why it's so inexpensive, by the way).  But it's worth it.

Another good one is Far Cry 4!
Far Cry 4 Kyrat Edition - PlayStation 4

Don't have a PS4?  Get one here:
PlayStation 4 White Console Destiny Bundle

There are all KINDS of games available for this system.  It hooks up to your TV and you get access to the Sony 'Playstation store' with the game.  Set up your userid, and you can click and order (and download immediately!) the latest hottest game right to your system.  Games like Far Cry.  Call of Duty.  Even board games like Monopoly and Risk which are fun to play with family members!

5.  Last but not least, there are books books books to immerse yourself into, raise your spirit, or just transport you into another world.

I have 4 categories of books I love.

The first are romantic novels.  (Yep, I'm a sucker for a good Nora Roberts book!).

The second are thrillers.  Specifically books by Tom Clancy, John Grisham and my latest discovery, Brad Thor.

Third are the spiritual books....these help me get in touch with the 'real me' inside, and have taught me that there is definitely more to life (and death!) than meets the eye:

Spirituality Books

And last but not least, there's the books on food addictions, bingeing, and overeating.  I tend to read these 'last thing' at night before I shut the light and put my head on the pillow....because the knowledge gleaned from them 'sinks in' overnight while I'm sleeping.  That's not a crazy idea, it's actually based on scientific knowledge.  The brain LEARNS 'overnight'....it sifts through all the information you got over the course of that day, and decides what to 'keep' (remember) and what to 'throw away' (forget)

Whatever you choose to do, know that you need to find OTHER WAYS to 'entertain' yourself other than EATING!
I mean, let's face it, as food addicts, we use food for 'Foodutainment'. And it doesn't have to be that way. Find other things you love to do....be it exercise, reading, gardening, playing with your pets, knitting, painting, swimming, fishing....the list is endless! Find a good hobby that you enjoy and go with it.
